Cartier Tank Basculante
The Cartier Tank Basculante, with its timeless art deco style, is a special variation of the Tank watch. It was introduced later, in 1932. The term "Basculante" refers to the characteristic of being able to rotate its dial in order to protect the watch glass. The aim of patenting this system was to compete with Jaeger's Reverso.
Over the decades, the Cartier Tank Basculante has undergone various evolutions in terms of design and movements, while retaining its basic concept.
Here we have a cream dial with black Roman numerals and blued steel hands. A small seconds in the same style as its neighbours, with its own dial, is visible at 3 o'clock. A window at 6 o'clock displays the date.
